Fifth Circle Extended Care Program

In order to remain steadfast in our mission to provide the most well-rounded, comprehensive care available, Four Circles Recovery Center is pleased to offer our 5th Circle Extended Care Program. This treatment program is offered to young men between the ages of 18 and 28 who have completed programming in our main wilderness-based treatment program, or are looking at continued work following their completion of other primary treatment for drug & alcohol addiction.

About Extended Care

The 5th Circle Extended Care Program has been uniquely designed to foster the recovery process for young adults as they transition from primary levels of care to eventual sober living. 5th Circle blends the transformational power of experiential treatment with traditional clinical services to establish a supportive environment in which clients can practice independent life-skill management and other recovery skills after they complete the primary treatment program offered at Four Circles Recovery Center.

Benefits of Extended Care

Customized to meet the needs of young adults who are suffering from substance abuse, chemical dependency, and co-occurring mental and behavioral health concerns, the 5th Circle Extended Care Program implements a variety of therapeutic techniques and treatment modalities in addition to experiential therapies. Those who take part in the 5th Circle Extended Care Program can benefit from the following:

  • Individual therapy within an intensive outpatient program (IOP) setting
  • Group therapy within an intensive outpatient program (IOP) setting
  • Development of recovery skills
  • Development of life skills
  • Development of relapse prevention skills
  • Development of financial management skills
  • Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings
  • Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings
  • Volunteer and service opportunities
  • Random drug testing
Optional Recreational Activities

Additionally, within the 5th Circle Extended Care Program, clients will be able to engage in a number of recreational activities. Examples of such activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Hiking
  • Camping
  • White water rafting
  • Fly-fishing

By taking part in the 5th Circle Extended Care Program, clients do not have to feel rushed to find a follow-up placement once their time in the primary treatment program for drug & alcohol addiction has come to an end. This is beneficial in that it allows our staff to identify the growth and individual needs of all clients as they are adjusting to recovery, and enables us to put together a true “recovery game plan” that gives men and women the highest potential for ongoing success.

About the Client Experience

As part of the effort to create long-term recovery from the foundation that was built during their participation in the primary treatment program here at Four Circles, clients in the 5th Circle are allowed to discover their true nature within the landscape of their own lives, while still benefiting from the reinforcement of clinical support. Our clients learn to build their own structure, and because of the vast experience in experiential therapy and long-term recovery that our staff possesses, we are able to utilize day-to-day events in a therapeutic manner.

When clients participated in the main wilderness program at Four Circles Recovery Center, they were provided with significant structure in order to gain a sense of safety, while also increasing their sense of self-efficacy and personal accountability. They learned how to slow down, gained confidence, and began to realize how their actions impacted not only themselves, but also their group and their environment as well. They were also able to exercise a body/mind/spirit approach to their own health in a very natural way. When they graduate out of this program and enter the 5th Circle Extended Care Program, clients may receive continued guidance as they build upon their experience of discovering themselves.

By participating in the 5th Circle Extended Care Program, clients will utilize the tools they gained while participating in the primary treatment program in an urban landscape. Eventually, clients will begin to feel confident in making their own decisions. At Four Circles Recovery Center, we believe that we have found a solution to help the gains made from wilderness therapy translate into the creation of lasting recovery. This comes in the form of respecting, trusting, and allowing our clients to make the most of their personal decisions while in the early stages of recovery.

Clients who take part in the 5th Circle Extended Care Program will become even more rooted in the recovery skills they have learned, and they will have the ongoing support as alumni as they move on to whichever transitional program they are best-suited for as they establish independence and new purpose to the educational or vocational goals that they have for their lives.

Once their time in the 5th Circle Extended Care Program has come to an end, clients can benefit by receiving alumni support services with recovery coach supervision for one year following treatment completion. This allows clients to reintegrate back into their daily lives while still having the support they need to stay true to their recovery and maintain their sobriety.

If you or someone in your life could benefit from the life changing care offered at Four Circles Recovery Center, please do not hesitate to contact our knowledgeable admissions staff today. You or your loved one can start on the road to recovery by taking part in our innovative wilderness treatment program and then transition into the comprehensive and life-changing supportive care offered in the 5th Circle Extended Care Program.

I really love the Fifth Circle Program. With so many fun outdoor activities, Fifth Circle has made it easy for me to stay connected in recovery with others from the group while having relaxing experiences out in the beautiful wild.
