Shane Applegate

Chief Executive Officer

Shane Applegate returns to Four Circles Recovery Center as CEO, after time spent serving as a Treatment Placement Specialist for Acadia Healthcare since January, 2014. Working as a resource for families and referring professionals in both North and South Carolina, Shane worked in support of the Recovery Division programs, assisting in both primary and continuing care consultations, along with continued business development.

A member of the founding team at Four Circles, Shane worked from May 2006 through December 2013 in both Logistics and Intake roles prior to serving as Admissions Director at Four Circles. Now, Shane has returned as their CEO, where his advocacy and dedication will be a source of calm to families seeking treatment, and the professionals that serve them.

A graduate of Kansas State University in Public Relations, Shane has worked in various programs related to family and youth camping, boarding school environments, and substance abuse – all with wilderness and experiential focus, since 1985, while in college. With a primary desire to be of service to others, no matter the milieu, Shane’s commitment has been driven by a passion that the natural environment is where the greatest growth may occur. His commitment to this philosophy only increases with time, along with his understanding of the clinical needs of the program.

Shane, and his remarkable wife, have two sons, and have made Asheville home for 16 years now. With a firm understanding of the foundations of Four Circles, and an eye towards new ways to connect people with nature for their needs, the Recovery mission remains. Consistent also, will be the attitude and enthusiasm, noted by Shane’s favorite and guiding quote:

“You must concentrate upon and consecrate yourself wholly to each day, as though a fire were raging in your hair.”
